Mount Yakushi, at 2,926m above sea level, is the southernmost tip of the Tateyama mountain range. It has long been an object of mountain worship, with Yakushi Nyorai enshrined in the Yakushido hall at the summit, and the mountain has been repeatedly maintained and repaired. Last year, a project to rebuild the shrine was launched, with people involved with nearby mountain huts stepping up. Rebuilding the Yakushido hall for the first time in 52 years reflects the reverence for mountains and nature that continues to this day. We looked into the thoughts of those who were captivated by Mount Yakushi and loved it.
